Orville "Orv" D. Gritz, May 13,1931 to June 16, 2017.

Orv was born in Scott City, Kansas; and grew up in Eastern Colorado. He joined the Navy and served in the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Essex aircraft carrier. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Flagler, CO, where he met the love of his life, Lucille Cole. Orv spent many years as an over the road semi-truck owner / operator leased to Walters Brewery in Pueblo, and later to Wright Motor Lines in Rocky Ford. However, as the family grew, he decided to stay closer to home and serve the Pueblo community as a State Farm Insurance agent. He spent twenty-two years as a State Farm agent, as well as being an active member of the Lions Club, Optimist Club, and delivering Meals on Wheels. An avid skier, he was also an instructor and enjoyed competing at a national level on the NASTAR circuit. Orv's second passion was golf, and could frequently be found at the Elmwood nine-hole course. An expert mechanic, Orv could always be counted on to help keep the vehicles of family and friends tuned up and running. The last few years of his life was spent lovingly caring for his wife of sixty-one years, Lu, that is suffering from dementia. Preceded in death by his two sons, Scott and Jeff. He is survived by his wife Lu; son, Kim D. Gritz; grand-children, Steven Gritz, Elizabeth Archuleta; and his brother, Cecil Gritz of Texas. As per his wishes there will be no formal service, but a family gathering in the future. Online condolences at www.tgmccarthy.com. Arrangements by TG McCarthy Funeral Home.
